Disney’s Imagineers Movitate the Dreamers

When I was asked to come back this year as a reporter for Disney’s Dreamers Academy I was thrilled. Last year I came to the Academy as one of the 100 dreamers selected out of about 4,000 applicants. I can honestly say that it was one of the best experiences of my life. From the inspirational speakers, successful role models and all of the wonderful networking opportunities provided the weekend ended all too soon.
I’m so excited for the class of 2010. There are so many great things the Academy has to offer. My dream is be a news anchor one day. I came here last year with only two years of journalistic experience; the program inspired me to work even harder writing for my local paper, becoming features editor for my school news service and interning as a student intern at the prestigious Poynter Institute’s High School Journalism Program.
I’m now experiencing for the first time broadcast journalism here at the Academy and loving the experience. I’m getting closer to achieving my dreams and the Disney’s Dreamers Academy has helped me immensely in doing so.
I would just like to encourage the class of 2010 to take advantages of all of the many opportunities offered. Meet as many people as you can and make a lot of connections to stay in contact with after the program ends. Take in all of the experiences, especially the workshops and remember what you learn from them.
Most importantly – stay focused, stay determined, follow your dreams and make them your reality.
Congratulations, Class of 2010!
